This is my favorite time of year. The Renaissance Faires are in full swing throughout Florida. Every year, I try to go to as many as I can with one of my best friends Dee. We spend hours planning and making costumes all year. Follow along with me as I start a new costume. What you see here are several I have made in the past. You can tell that the garments have improved as my skills working on them have.
It all started with belly dancing. I took classes with my sister and spent a ton of money on ill fitting costumes. I am extremely well endowed making it difficult to find anything that comes in sets fit me. So the simple fix was to make my own. You can see from my very first costume, we were performing more cabaret style dances.

That was not my favorite dance style or costumes. Thus a change in troupes and on to tribal style belly dancing. This style of dance is a big game of Simon Says! Which makes this so much fun. My instructor is an amazing dancer that lives life by her own rules and loves to get us to be creative with our costuming. When my son started playing hockey, belly dance class became a thing of the past that I hope to soon make time for. What’s a girl to do with all those beautiful 25 yard skirts, belts, and matching bra tops? Well create renaissance faire wear of course.

You can see that evolution through the screen shots below. Check out my projects where I will walk you through step by step how I create my own bra tops and matching belts. I will also share the Amazon Affiliate links for the materials I use.
