I am super excited. We are starting a raised bed garden! I’ve grew some tomato plants, grove peppers, and herbs in the past, but we are talking a true garden!
Yesterday we put the raised beds together, and I started some seedlings in starting pod.
The following beds are what we put together. They were very easy to assemble. One person can do it by themselves. A Phillips head screw driver and a wrench are all that is needed.

Starting the seedlings requires a little work in the hot sweltering Florida climate. It is only April and we are hitting the 90’s. I created a small greenhouse that can live on my back porch till the seedlings can be transferred. I chose the Jiffy Seed Starting Strips for a couple of reasons. First you can cut them apart and plant them directly into the bed without needing to pull them out of their container. Second, they allow the water to drain out making over watering the little guys difficult. (My family can attest to my over watering and killing things.) But mainly I chose them for my third reason, I can write on the outside what I planted in each section. This allows me to start multiple plants at the same time in the same container and stagger my planting to have things like tomatoes being harvested at different times.

Now you can purchase the Gardenz Seed Starter Tray Kits from Amazon and make your life a little easier. But I am an impatient woman and wanted to get these guys going.

Which meant, I was using what I have on hand. Thus the Handi-Foil cake pans with lids. Anyone that cooks for the holidays will be familiar with these pans and probably have some in the house. They are the 9 x 13 cake pans with the plastic lids. These particular ones I got on a BOGO sale. I placed the seed starter trays in there, used a small screwdriver that I heated up to put holes in the lid, and covered them up. Hopefully, we will start seeing sprouts next week sometime. Wish us luck!
And as always help a girl out, as an Amazon Affiliate any thing purchased through the links on my page will allow me to receive a small commission.
